Description

The Museum of Us intends to repatriate 71 cultural items classified as unassociated funerary objects that have cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. These items include grooved stones, glass trade beads, historic Chinese coins, projectile points, carbonized textile material, charmstone, cowbell, stone pipes, Haliotis ornaments, and others. The items were removed from various mounds in California between 1930 and 1936 and later acquired by the Museum of Us. Repatriation may occur on or after June 4, 2026, and requests for repatriation can be submitted by lineal descendants or affiliated tribes or organizations.
