Description
The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified at least four individuals of Native American ancestry from Placer County, CA. The museum has determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and several Indian Tribes including the Jackson Band of Miwuk Indians and others. Repatriation of the human remains may occur on or after June 4, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the museum's authorized representative.
