Description

In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Office of the State Archaeologist Bioarchaeology Program (OSA BP) has completed an inventory of human remains and determined a cultural affiliation between the remains and Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations. The inventory includes human remains representing at least one individual, a middle adult female aged 25-50 years, found near Bellevue, Iowa. The notice details the process for repatriation requests and identifies affiliated tribes. Repatriation may occur on or after June 4, 2026.
