Description
The Coast Guard is proposing to revise its existing regulation to add new recurring Special Local Regulations (SLRs) for certain navigable waters of Lake Erie and the Maumee River in the Sector Detroit Captain of the Port Zone. These SLRs are intended to protect personnel, vessels, and the marine environment from potential hazards during marine events such as the overnight Invitational Mills Trophy sailboat race and the Paddle and Groove paddle events. The regulations would prohibit persons and vessels from transiting within 100 yards of racing vessels or within designated regulated areas unless authorized by the Captain of the Port. Comments on these proposed rulemakings are invited and must be received by May 20, 2026.
