City of Ithaca Solicits Construction Materials Testing and Inspection Services for 2026 Program

The City of Ithaca Department of Public Works is seeking professional construction materials testing and inspection services to support its 2026 Construction Program within the city right of way. - Government Buyer: - City of Ithaca Department of Public Works, Engineering Department - Scope of Services: - On-call, as-needed testing and inspection for a variety of construction projects, including sidewalks, streets, facilities, waterfront trails, and parking garages - Testing and inspection of soils, concrete, paving, and other construction materials - Preparation of technical reports certified by licensed professional engineers - Services include both field and laboratory testing - Products and Testing Services Requested: - Concrete compressive strength tests (4 x 8 and 6 x 12 cylinders) - Mortar cube, grout, and prism strength tests - Soil compaction and moisture-density (Proctor) tests - Asphalt content and aggregate sieve analysis - Nuclear compaction and moisture density testing - Sieve analysis, plasticity index, and soil classification - Maximum theoretical specific gravity (asphalt) - Drying shrinkage, water soluble chloride, total soluble chloride, resistivity, and air content tests (ASTM/AASHTO standards) - Corrosion inhibitor and ultrasonic testing - 3-inch ID hollow stem auger boring - Use of specialized equipment: microwave oven, coring equipment, nuclear moisture density gauge, ultrasonic equipment, super air meter - Sample pick-up and administrative/reporting services - Notable Requirements: - Contract is not-to-exceed, one year with possible one-year extension - Prevailing wage rates apply - MWBE (15% MBE, 15% WBE) and DBE (12%) participation goals - All work performed within City of Ithaca right of way - Direct contacts required for scheduling; reports must be signed by qualified engineers - Past vendors for similar work include CME Associates, Atlantic Testing Laboratories, Terracon, and Whitestone Environmental & Geotechnical Engineers & Consultants

This solicitation is for providing testing and inspection services for construction projects within the City of Ithaca right of way. The contract term is one year with a possible one-year extension.
