The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) is seeking to procure proprietary brass and stainless-steel plates for use with its CTIP-III intaglio laser engraving machine at the Eastern Currency Facility in Washington, DC. - Sole source procurement: Only Koenig & Bauer (K&B) Banknote Solutions can supply these plates, as they are proprietary to the CTIP-III machine - Product requirements: - Blank brass and stainless-steel plates, both Type I and Type II - Dimensions: Height 1200 mm; Width 950 mm (Type I) or 990 mm (Type II); Thickness 0.8 mm ± 10 micron - Hardness: Brass 160/170 HV; Stainless-steel 150-200 HV - Surface smoothness: < 4m Rz - Plates must be delivered with certificates of analysis and safety data sheets - Contract structure: - Firm Fixed Price contract - One-year base period with four one-year option periods (total potential duration: five years) - Delivery required within 22 weeks of award; one-year warranty after acceptance - No competitive solicitation will be posted due to the proprietary nature of the plates - Only vendors registered and active in SAM will be considered - Place of performance and delivery: Bureau of Engraving and Printing, 14th & C Streets SW, Washington, DC 20228

NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD SOLE SOURCE

Computer-to-Itaglio Plate (CTIP)-III Engraved Metal Plates

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) Office of Chief Procurement Officer (OCPO) intends to award a sole source Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract on behalf of the Office of Engraving. The contract will precure brass and stainless-steel plates compatible with the Office of Engraving’s CTIP-III intaglio laser engraving machine at the Eastern Currency Facility (ECF). The plates are proprietary and can only be acquired from Koenig & Bauer (K&B) Banknote Solutions.  Therefore, the Government intends to award a sole source contract to K&B in accordance with FAR Subpart 6.302-1(a)(2)(ii)(b).

This notice of intent is not a request for competitive offers/quotes/proposals. A determination not to compete this requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.  Any cost associated with the preparation and submission of data or information, or any other costs incurred in responding to this notice is the sole responsibility of the respondent and will not be reimbursed by the Government.
