Description

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announces a 12-month finding on a petition to list the Temblor legless lizard (Anniella alexanderae) as an endangered or threatened species under the Endangered Species Act. The lizard inhabits the eastern foothills of the Temblor and Diablo ranges of California and adjacent portions of the San Joaquin Valley floor. After reviewing the best available scientific and commercial information, the Service finds that listing the species as endangered or threatened is not warranted at this time. The public is invited to submit any new information relevant to the status of the species or its habitat at any time.
