Description

NASA is seeking innovative solutions for advanced Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL) technologies focusing on low-cost, rapidly producible Thermal Protection System (TPS) materials. The solicitation targets felted or needled TPS concepts and 3D-woven preforms made from specially blended carbon and phenolic fibers. The goal is to develop uniform batting and blended yarns with specific carbon and phenolic fiber ratios suitable for large-scale aeroshells and advanced TPS applications. This effort supports NASA's Mars Exploration Program and commercial space companies by reducing mission risk and cost while enabling new capabilities.
