The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Department of Transportation and Infrastructure is seeking bids for a road rehabilitation and sign replacement project in the Markland area: - Government Buyer: - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure - Project Scope: - Rehabilitation of 1.7 km of Route 81 (Markland Road), including: - Scarifying and reshaping 13,600 m² of road surface - Placement of 700 metric tons of Granular 'A' base course - Supply and placement of 2,500 m³ of rock fill - Removal and installation of two aluminized corrugated steel pipe (CSP) culverts (14m x 600mm and 7m x 600mm) - Backhoe operation (7,500 hours) - Sign replacements at intersections of Routes 81, 91, and 93: - Installation of 6 Type B, 4 Type C, and 2 Type D signs - Supply and installation of 12 signboards on new signposts with galvanized hardware - Services and Requirements: - Traffic accommodation and safety measures, including certified flagpersons and a Traffic Control Supervisor - Mobilization, demobilization, and force account work as needed - Mandatory bid security (10% bid bond) and performance/labor/materials bonds (50% each) - Electronic bid submission required - Adherence to provincial and federal laws - Liquidated damages of $400 per day for late completion - No work permitted on certain high-traffic weekend afternoons - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or vendors are named; standard road construction materials and hardware are specified - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Certified traffic control personnel - Strict completion timeline (2 months from award or by specified date) - Detailed scope for culvert and sign installation
