Description
This notice announces the signing of an amended Agreement between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the State of Wyoming. Under this amended Agreement, effective April 30, 2026, the NRC discontinues its regulatory authority over certain source materials within Wyoming. The State of Wyoming assumes regulatory authority over source material recovered from mineral resources processed primarily for purposes other than uranium or thorium content. The initial Agreement allowed Wyoming to regulate byproduct material and source material involved in uranium or thorium extraction or concentration at milling facilities.
