Description
The DCB requirement is necessary to support the U.S. Army’s 3GEN FLIR program, an Acquisition Category (ACAT) II program, and improve the Army's existing FLIR sensor technology and provide enhanced capabilities for reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition. The Army approved the Improved the Improved FLIR (I-FLIR) Capability Development Document Update (CDD-U) Revision 1 on 149 December August 201822. FLIR is a passive imaging technology that senses infrared radiation and allows targeting and fire control operations during day or night, in the presence of smoke and in overall degraded battlefield conditions. The 3GEN FLIR seeks to maximize compatibility and commonality of components to deploy advanced thermal imaging capabilities to the Army and vastly reduce lifecycle costs. The 3GEN FLIR B-Kit Production and Deployment phase is focused on ground-based platforms. The contract is a hybrid FFP for DCB hardware production and CPFF/Completion for technical & engineering, test, and logistics services.
