Argonne National Laboratory Solicits HPSS Disk Cache System and Support for ALCF

Argonne National Laboratory, operated by UChicago Argonne, LLC for the U.S. Department of Energy, is seeking proposals for a new High Performance Storage System (HPSS) disk cache solution for the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF): - Government Buyer: - U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Argonne National Laboratory, Argonne Leadership Computing Facility - Managed by UChicago Argonne, LLC - Products and Services Requested: - Block storage system (standalone appliance) with at least 10PiB usable capacity - Must support high-speed parallel data transfers and Linux-based data mover hosts (up to 16 servers or embedded VMs) - Connectivity required: 100GbE to 400GbE, with support for Ethernet, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel, and SAS - High reliability, hot-swappable components, and integration with monitoring systems - Data mover hosts: 16 Intel Xeon or AMD-based 1RU rackmount servers (16 cores @ 3.0GHz, 256GB DDR5 RAM, redundant PSUs, PCIe for 400GbE, RAID1 SSD) - Hardware and software for HPSS disk cache - Installation, configuration, and acceptance testing - Maintenance and support services: - 5 years of 9x5 Next Business Day support (option for 12x7 coverage) - On-site parts cache, problem escalation, and software updates - Option for a 6th year of maintenance/support - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Minimum 10PiB usable storage - High-speed, parallel data transfer for scientific computing workloads - Linux compatibility and support for up to 16 data mover hosts - Delivery, installation, and acceptance at Argonne National Laboratory, Building 240 (Theory and Computing Sciences Building) - Detailed installation and acceptance test plans required - Warranty and support services must begin upon system acceptance - No specific OEMs, part numbers, or brands are mandated; solutions must meet the technical and operational requirements outlined in the Statement of Work.

Description

UChicago Argonne, LLC, operator of Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne or Laboratory) under a prime contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), has the responsibility of obtaining HPSS disk cache hardware, software/licensing, installation, and maintenance and support services which are the subject of this Request for Proposal (RFP). You are invited to furnish a firm fixed price proposal to meet this requirement. Your attention is directed to the enclosed documents which constitute the requirements of this RFP and should be fully complied with as indicated.
