Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposes to repeal the December 9, 2024, final rule which classified the Northern Wasatch Front (NWF) nonattainment area in Utah as failing to meet the 2015 ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS) by the August 3, 2024, deadline, and reclassified it to Serious nonattainment. The EPA also proposes to determine that the NWF ozone NAAQS would have been attained by the deadline but for emissions from outside the U.S. If finalized, this action would allow the area to remain classified as Moderate. The proposal includes consideration of international emissions and wildfire smoke impacts on ozone levels in the area.
