Pierce County is seeking a contractor for a major roadway improvement project on 122nd Avenue East, spanning from 146th Street Court East to 136th Street East (CRP 5763). - Government Buyer: - Pierce County Planning & Public Works, Office of the County Engineer, and Procurement & Contract Services - Project Scope: - Widening the existing two-lane roadway to include two southbound through lanes, a two-way left turn lane, and one northbound through lane - Construction of four-foot paved shoulders, cement concrete curb and gutter, and 6-foot wide sidewalks - Installation of an enclosed storm drainage system, water quality stormwater facilities, and roadway illumination - Replacement and upgrade of traffic signal systems at key intersections (122nd Ave E/144th St E and 122nd Ave E/136th St E) - Coordination with multiple utility companies for relocation of water, gas, power, and communications infrastructure - Tacoma Water will provide and install approximately 440 linear feet of 24-inch and 6-inch water mains, valves, hydrants, and appurtenances - Compliance with environmental permits, including a Construction Stormwater General Permit - Products and Materials (selected major items): - Storm sewer pipes (12-inch and 30-inch diameters, Schedule A) - Catch basins (Type 1 and Type 2, 60-inch diameter) - Ductile iron pipe and mechanical joint fittings (various sizes) - Hot mix asphalt (HMA) paving, crushed surfacing base and top courses - Cement concrete curb, gutter, sidewalks, and approaches - Traffic signal poles, controller cabinets, battery backup systems, LED luminaires, pedestrian signals - Illumination light standards (Type III and IV, 144W) - Traffic signs, channelization materials, permanent and temporary pavement markings - Services: - Utility coordination with multiple providers (Cogent, Comcast, Firgrove Water Co., Lightcurve, Lumen, Puget Sound Energy, Tacoma Water, Valley Water District, Verizon, Ziply) - Traffic control (flaggers, portable changeable message signs, detour management) - Erosion and water pollution control, environmental compliance, and construction management - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Strict adherence to detailed construction plans and environmental permits - Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) participation and non-discrimination policies - Electronic bid submission and compliance with wage laws - Use of recycled materials is encouraged - No specific OEMs or proprietary vendors are named; materials must meet standard specifications and agency-approved plans.
Description
This project provides for the improvement of 122nd Avenue East by widening the existing two-lane roadway to accommodate two southbound through lanes, a two-way left turn lane, and one northbound through lane. Additional improvements include four-foot paved shoulders, cement concrete curb and gutter, 6-foot wide cement concrete sidewalks, an enclosed storm drainage system, water quality stormwater facilities, illumination, replacement of the existing traffic signal system at the 122nd Avenue East / 144th Street East intersection, and updating the signal at the 122nd Avenue East / 136th Street East intersection. The work will be performed in accordance with the attached Contract Plans, Contract Provisions, and Standard Specifications.
