Description

The FAA proposes a new airworthiness directive (AD) for certain Textron Aviation, Inc., Model 408 airplanes. This AD is prompted by the manufacturer's revision of the aircraft maintenance manual to add a detailed inspection for the horizontal stabilizer spar and change the airplane serial effectivity for the vertical stabilizer spar inspection. The directive requires revising the Airworthiness Limitations Section of the existing maintenance manual or instructions for continued airworthiness and the approved maintenance or inspection program. The purpose is to address an unsafe condition that could lead to reduced structural integrity or controllability of the airplane, potentially resulting in loss of control.
