The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Transportation & Infrastructure, is seeking contractors for the replacement of the Harricott Pond Bridge on Route 93 in the Avalon Region. - Government Buyer: - Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Department of Transportation & Infrastructure, Bridge Design Division - Project Scope: - Replacement of the structurally distressed Harricott Pond Bridge at Route 93 km 11.3 - Construction, maintenance, and removal of a temporary two-lane panel bridge diversion - Regrading and paving of Route 93, including removal/disposal of asphalt, cold planning, and paving to RLU 80 standard - Complete removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new concrete rigid frame single-span bridge with piled footings - Supply and installation of guide rails, precast concrete elements, gravity block retaining walls, steel bridge railings, deck and membrane drains, and tree planting for site restoration - Products and Materials: - Structural steel H-piles (HP310x110 and HP360x152) for deep foundation work - Precast segmental rigid frame sections and gravity block retaining walls - Galvanized reinforcing steel, bridge concrete, steel bridge railings, guide rails, and drainage components - Services: - Geotechnical investigation, deep foundation design, and pile testing - Design, installation, maintenance, and removal of the temporary bypass bridge - Environmental compliance, including adherence to permits and mitigation measures from the Department of Environment and Climate Change and Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Notable Requirements: - Compliance with environmental protection plans and geotechnical recommendations - Use of pre-approved consultants for pile design analysis (EXP Services Inc., Harbourside Geotechnical Consultants, CBCL Limited) - Substantial bid security (10% bid bond, 50% performance and labor/materials bonds) - Liquidated damages for late completion ($3,500 per day) - All bids must be submitted electronically - No specific OEMs for products are named; the procurement is for construction services and materials, with structural steel and precast concrete as key material categories.
