Description

The Department of State’s Bureau of Counterterrorism (CT) is offering funding to strengthen Iraq’s ability to investigate and respond to terrorist attacks and incursions along the Iraq-Syria border. The program aims to reduce threats to U.S. diplomatic and military facilities, safeguard American commercial operations, and prevent terrorist attacks endangering Americans abroad. It focuses on countering Iran-aligned militia groups and ISIS by enhancing Iraqi border security capabilities and building sustainable Iraqi civilian law enforcement capacities. The program includes a train-the-trainer component to promote Iraqi self-reliance and reduce long-term U.S. resource commitments.
