NASA is seeking specialized services for cycling and ultrasound scanning of lithium-ion 18650 cells to detect lithium plating and related defects. - Government Buyer: - NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC), with contracting office at Stennis Space Center, Mississippi - Work performed at NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas - OEMs and Vendors: - Titan Advanced Energy Solutions Inc. is identified as the sole source provider for proprietary ultrasound scanning and computational analysis - Products/Services Requested: - Cycling and ultrasound examination of 38 lithium-ion 18650 cells (28 with defects, 10 controls) - 24 cells with insufficient anode overhang - 4 cells with anode metallic foreign object debris - 10 control cells without defects - Proprietary ultrasound scans with computational analysis to detect lithium plating and other defects - Controlled cycling profiles, ultrasound scans at specified intervals, DCIR pulses, and comprehensive reporting - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Use of proprietary ultrasound technology for defect detection - All work must be performed in a room temperature and humidity-controlled facility (<50% RH) - Non-flight hardware; cells require controlled storage - All cycling and scanning must be completed within 12 months after receipt of cells
