The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) offers federal assistance through cooperative agreements to Alaska Native Organizations (ANOs) for the conservation and protection of marine mammals under NMFS jurisdiction. The program supports activities such as species management, subsistence harvest monitoring, scientific research, and public education aligned with recovery or conservation plans. Proposals focusing on marine mammals under the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service jurisdiction are not eligible. Eligible applicants must have a signed marine mammal co-management agreement with NOAA Fisheries at the time of application.
