Description
The Cultural Anthropology Program supports fundamental, systematic anthropological research and training to increase understanding of human social and cultural variability. It welcomes proposals from researchers in all sub-fields of cultural anthropology using various methodologies including ethnographic field research, surveys, remote sensing, and computational modeling. The program aims to produce empirically grounded findings that contribute to a robust anthropological science of human society and culture. Research must focus on theory-generating and theory-testing to create new knowledge about human culture and society, rather than immediate applied objectives.
