The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) is inviting proposals for the Coupling, Energetics, and Dynamics of Atmospheric Regions (CEDAR) program to advance research on atmospheric regions from the middle atmosphere to the exosphere. - Government Buyer: - U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) - Products/Services Requested: - Scientific research projects focused on atmospheric coupling, energetics, chemistry, and dynamics - Emphasis on innovative approaches, including AI, machine learning, open data, and open science practices - Eligible Applicants: - U.S.-based for-profit organizations, non-profit non-academic organizations, institutions of higher education, and tribal nations - Funding Details: - Total program funding: $3,000,000 - Individual awards: $100,000 to $750,000 - No cost sharing or matching required - Notable Requirements: - No specific OEMs or vendors are named, as this is a grant for research rather than a procurement of products - Projects should address regional and global atmospheric processes using observations, theory, and modeling
Description
The Coupling, Energetics, and Dynamics of Atmospheric Regions (CEDAR) program supports research to increase understanding of atmospheric regions from the middle atmosphere through the thermosphere, ionosphere, and exosphere. It focuses on coupling, energetics, chemistry, and dynamics on regional and global scales, including responses to lower atmospheric perturbations and solar inputs. The program supports observations from ground and space platforms, theory, and modeling of Earth's and other planets' upper atmospheres. Novel approaches using AI, ML, open data, and open science practices are encouraged.
