Description

The Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence: Development Phase (COBRE-D) program provides funding to institutions in IDeA states to increase their biomedical research capacity in strategic scientific areas where they have limited infrastructure or expertise. The program supports recruitment and mentoring of early-career investigators, supplements start-up packages for new hires, establishes research facilities, and enhances research administration support services. It serves as a pathway for less-resourced institutions to progress to the COBRE Expansion/Sustainability Phases program. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations and institutions of higher education located in IDeA-eligible states that award doctoral degrees in health-related sciences or are independent biomedical research institutes with ongoing NIH or federal biomedical research funding.
