The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), through its Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS), is inviting proposals for the Atmosphere Cluster (AC) program to advance fundamental atmospheric science research. - Government Buyer: - U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) - Products/Services Requested: - Fundamental research on atmospheric processes (chemical, physical, and dynamical phenomena) - Research activities may include modeling, observations, experiments, and analytical techniques - Funding available for major research instrumentation (up to $4 million) and mid-scale research infrastructure (up to $100 million) - Proposals encouraged to utilize NSF-supported facilities and instrumentation managed by the Facilities for Atmospheric Research and Education (FARE) program - Proposers must follow the Facility and Instrumentation Request Process (FIRP) for facility/instrumentation needs - Unique/Notable Requirements: - Integration of education, outreach, and dissemination activities (NSF Broader Impacts) - Proposals may align with NSF-wide programs (e.g., AGS Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, CAREER, MCA, EMBRACE, HBCU - EiR, RUI, ROA) - No specific OEMs, vendors, part numbers, or purchase quantities specified - Open to a wide range of research and educational activities in atmospheric sciences

Description

The Atmosphere Cluster (AC) in the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences (AGS) supports fundamental studies of atmospheric processes from the Earth’s surface to the stratosphere, covering timescales from nanoseconds to millennia. Research includes chemical, physical, and dynamical processes impacting clouds, weather, climate, air quality, and the water cycle, using methods such as modeling, observations, experiments, and analytical techniques. The AC welcomes proposals at any time, with specific solicitations supporting particular atmospheric science efforts. The program encourages integration of education, outreach, and dissemination activities in research plans and supports a wide range of proposal opportunities including workforce development and broadening participation. Various NSF-wide programs and instrumentation funding opportunities are also relevant to this cluster.
