Description
The Cellular and Biochemical Engineering (CBE) program supports fundamental engineering research to advance understanding of cellular and biomolecular processes. Research funded by CBE may lead to enabling technologies for advanced biomanufacturing of therapeutic cells, biochemicals, and biopharmaceuticals. The program encourages innovative and potentially transformative engineering research in areas such as metabolic engineering, synthetic biology, microbiome design, protein and enzyme engineering, and integrated chemoenzymatic systems. Proposals should emphasize potential impacts on biomanufacturing processes and may include novel bioprocessing and biomanufacturing approaches.
