This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) encourages applications to advance the discovery, preclinical development, and proof of concept testing of new candidate agents and neurostimulation approaches to treat mental disorders, substance use disorders, or alcohol use disorder. It also supports the development of novel ligands and circuit-engagement devices to characterize or validate drug/device targets. The NOFO supports discrete projects performed by named investigators and encourages partnerships between academia and industry. Projects seeking support for multiple projects directed toward a major objective should consider the companion U19 FOA.
