Description

This final rule amends U.S. Customs and Border Protection regulations to extend emergency import restrictions on certain archaeological and ethnological material from Afghanistan through April 28, 2029. The restrictions were originally imposed due to the pillage of cultural heritage material and cover archaeological material dating from approximately 50,000 B.C. to A.D. 1747 and ethnological material from the 9th century A.D. to A.D. 1920. The rule updates the regulatory language to align with other cultural property restrictions and continues to prohibit importation unless specific conditions are met.
