NASA is seeking a contractor to perform calendar life testing on five different 18650 Li-ion cell designs for lot acceptance purposes. - Government Buyer: - NASA Shared Services Center (NSSC), Stennis Space Center, Mississippi - Place of performance: Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas - Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs): - LG Chem - E-One Moli Energy (Moli) - Samsung SDI - Vendors: - SYMMETRY RESOURCES, INC (sole source contractor) - Products Requested: - 50 units each of the following Li-ion 18650 cells: - LG INR18650-M36 (3.4Ah, high energy) - Moli INR18650-M35A (3.5Ah, high energy) - Moli INR18650-P28B (2.8Ah, high power) - Samsung INR18650-30Q (3.0Ah, high power) - Samsung ICR18650-26F (2.6Ah, moderate energy) - Services Requested: - Calendar life testing of all cell lots at multiple states of charge and temperatures - Annual capacity, self-discharge, and impedance performance checks - Annual reporting for high power, high energy, and moderate energy cells - Unique Requirements: - Testing spans five annual cycles (base year plus four option years) - Reports due 8 weeks after each testing year - Sole source award to SYMMETRY RESOURCES, INC - Testing must follow specific protocols for calendar life assessment - Place of Performance: - Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas - Contracting office: NASA Shared Services Center, Stennis Space Center, Mississippi
