Description
The City of Kitchener is seeking proposals for the planning, installation, and maintenance of a network of 10-15 permanent weather stations to collect rainfall and other weather data across the city. This data will support the calibration of stormwater and sanitary hydraulic models, flood mapping and flood forecasting, and Rainfall Derived Infiltration and Inflow (RDII) planning. The successful proponent will provide proprietary equipment and ensure data download and visualization through a user-friendly dashboard accessible to City staff and the public. The project includes setting up a secure communication network, integrating additional sensors, and providing ongoing maintenance and quality control for the weather station data, equipment, and dashboard. The initiative aims to enhance the City's stormwater and sewer system management and long-term resilience to weather events.
