The Internal Revenue Service (IRS), part of the Department of the Treasury, is seeking nominations for its Advisory Council (IRSAC): - IRSAC provides advice and a forum for discussion on tax administration issues to IRS leadership - Open to individuals with significant experience in: - Tax preparation for individuals, small businesses, large corporations - Tax-exempt and government entities - Information reporting - Taxpayer or consumer advocacy - No OEMs or vendors are involved, as this is not a procurement of products or services - Volunteer position with a three-year term; travel expenses are reimbursed per government guidelines - Notable requirements: - Clearance process including tax checks, FBI fingerprint checks, and practitioner checks with the Office of Professional Responsibility - Applicants must submit a statement of qualifications and relevant experience

Description

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is accepting applications for the IRS Advisory Council (IRSAC) from individuals representing a cross-section of the taxpaying public with substantial, disparate experience in tax preparation for individuals, small businesses, and large, multi-national corporations; tax-exempt and government entities; information reporting; and taxpayer or consumer advocacy. Nominations of qualified individuals may come from individuals or organizations. Applications must be received by June 5, 2026. This is a volunteer position with three-year terms starting January 2027, and travel expenses within government guidelines will be reimbursed.
