Description
The University of Michigan has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes ancestral remains and funerary objects from sites in Berrien County, Michigan, dating from the Historic period. The University has determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and objects and several Native American tribes in Michigan. Repatriation of these remains and objects may occur on or after May 26, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be sent to the University of Michigan's NAGPRA Office.
