The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), part of the U.S. Department of Transportation, is seeking public comment on a proposed regulatory action to establish two new Area Navigation (RNAV) Routes in Texas to improve air traffic flow around Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. - Government Buyer: - Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Department of Transportation - Office: Rules and Regulations Group, Policy Directorate - OEMs and Vendors: - Bombardier (referenced in related airworthiness directive) - Products/Services Requested: - Establishment of RNAV Route T-583 (Laredo VORTAC to Waco VORTAC, bypassing Austin TRACON airspace on the west) - Establishment of RNAV Route T-585 (Corpus Christi VORTAC to Waco VORTAC, bypassing Austin TRACON airspace on the east) - Airworthiness directive for Bombardier BD7001A10 and BD7001A11 airplanes (addressing brake control unit issues) - Unique or Notable Requirements: - The RNAV routes are designed to provide more direct and efficient air traffic routing, reduce low altitude aircraft volume over the Austin terminal area, and facilitate revised arrival procedures - The airworthiness directive targets safety improvements for specific Bombardier aircraft models - No direct procurement of goods or services is involved in the RNAV route establishment; this is a regulatory and airspace management action - Key locations include Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and navigation points at Laredo, Waco, and Corpus Christi, Texas
Description
This action proposes to establish United States Area Navigation (RNAV) Routes T-583 and T-585 in Texas to support new air traffic procedures at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). RNAV Route T-583 will extend between Laredo (LRD), TX VORTAC and Waco (ACT), TX VORTAC, bypassing Austin TRACON airspace on the west side. RNAV Route T-585 will extend between Corpus Christi (CRP), TX VORTAC and Waco (ACT), TX VORTAC, bypassing Austin TRACON airspace on the east side. These routes aim to provide a more direct and efficient route structure, reduce low altitude aircraft volume over Austin Terminal area, and facilitate revised arrival procedures within Austin Terminal airspace.
