The City of Waco, through its Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), is seeking qualified consulting firms to conduct a comprehensive inventory of transportation signage and implement targeted safety demonstration projects across McLennan County, Texas. - Government Buyer: - City of Waco, Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Purchasing Services Office - Scope of Services: - Systemwide inventory of roadway signage throughout McLennan County - Development of GIS-compatible datasets and a Business Intelligence dashboard - Evaluation of signage compliance with MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) standards - Identification and prioritization of signage deficiencies - Implementation of low-cost, targeted safety demonstration projects - Pre- and post-installation data collection and analysis - Coordination with local jurisdictions and agencies - Preparation of a comprehensive final report with recommendations for future signage management and safety planning - Products/Services Requested: - Transportation and traffic safety consulting - GIS data management and analysis - Safety engineering and program management - Notable Requirements: - Experience with signage inventories and safety project implementation - Ability to manage and standardize large datasets for GIS and business intelligence use - Coordination with multiple local jurisdictions - Compliance with MUTCD standards - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or product manufacturers are named; solicitation is open to qualified consulting firms - Period of Performance: - Approximately 2.5 years, from consultant selection through project completion, ending in late 2028

The Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is seeking qualified consultants to conduct a comprehensive transportation signage inventory and implement targeted safety demonstration projects across its planning area in McLennan County, Texas. The project aims to identify, document, and address deficiencies in roadway signage that contribute to safety risks for all users of the transportation system. Signage is a foundational component of a safe and legible roadway network, and inconsistencies or absence of signage can increase crash risk, especially in rural and small-community environments. A non-mandatory pre-submittal meeting is scheduled for April 28, 2026, via Zoom.
