The City of West Des Moines is seeking bids for the reconstruction of the S. 35th Street Trail, managed by the Parks and Recreation Department. - Scope of Work: - Removal and replacement of approximately 4,300 square yards of 6-inch reinforced Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) shared use path - 400 square yards of 8-inch reinforced PCC driveway pavement - 350 cubic yards of earthwork (excavation, grading, and topsoil) - Installation of 580 linear feet of 6-inch perforated dual-wall HDPE subdrain, cleanouts, and outlets with rodent guards - Surface restoration including 2 acres of hydraulic seeding, fertilizing, mulching, and broadleaf chemical treatment - Erosion and sediment control measures: 9,075 linear feet of 12-inch filter sock, 688 linear feet of silt fence, 1.8 acres of hydro mulching (BFM), and 14 drop-in inlet protection devices - Pavement markings, detectable warnings for ADA compliance, and painted symbols/legends - Temporary traffic control, SWPPP preparation and management, construction survey, mobilization, and concrete washout - All work must comply with Iowa DOT, MUTCD, and 2025 Iowa Statewide Urban Design and Specifications (SUDAS) standards - No specific OEMs are mandated; preference is given to Iowa-sourced products and labor - Unique Requirements: - Four-year maintenance guarantee period - Coordination with multiple utility providers - Liquidated damages of $200 per day for late completion - Performance and payment bonds required - Estimated construction cost is approximately $533,689

The City of West Des Moines is soliciting bids for the reconstruction of the existing trail along S. 35th Street. The project includes earthwork, trail pavement, and surface restoration, with approximate quantities of 4,300 SY PCC shared use path pavement, 400 SY PCC driveway pavement, 350 CY earthwork, and 2 acres of seeding. Bids must be submitted electronically by May 6, 2026, and must include a bid bond or certified check for 10% of the bid amount. The successful bidder must provide performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract price. Work must commence within 10 days of notice to proceed and be completed by August 15, 2026, with liquidated damages of $200 per day for delays.
