Ontario Shared Services is seeking bids for medium helicopters to support wildland fire suppression operations: - Up to 14 Medium Category Helicopters required - Each must be equipped with a belly tank and have a Transport Canada approved Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the belly tank - Helicopters must be capable of carrying passengers while the belly tank is in use - Primary use is for the Ministry’s wildland fire suppression during the 2026 and 2027 fire seasons - Tasks include insertion/extraction of fire personnel, water-bombing, slinging operations, aerial reconnaissance, and transport of personnel/supplies - Helicopters will be assigned to main bases across Ontario - Contract may support mutual aid operations in other Canadian jurisdictions or certain U.S. states - Options to extend the contract for up to two additional terms of up to two years each - No specific OEMs or vendors are named in the solicitation

The Ministry of Ontario Shared Services is seeking up to fourteen Medium Category Helicopters equipped with belly tanks and Transport Canada approved Supplemental Type Certificates to support wildland fire suppression activities during the 2026 and 2027 fire seasons, with options to extend for additional terms. Each helicopter will be assigned to a main base and will support operations such as insertion and extraction of fire suppression personnel, water-bombing, slinging operations, aerial reconnaissance, and transport of personnel and supplies. The contract aims to ensure rapid and effective response to wildland fires across Ontario and potentially other Canadian jurisdictions or U.S. states under mutual aid agreements.
