Description

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) is considering issuing exemptions to Constellation Energy Generation, LLC for the Braidwood, Byron, and LaSalle nuclear stations in Illinois. These exemptions would allow the licensee to transfer certain earnings from the nuclear decommissioning trusts to subaccounts that can be used for broader decommissioning activities and during operations, beyond just radiological decommissioning. The NRC staff has issued an environmental assessment and found no significant impact associated with these proposed exemptions, concluding that the action will not adversely affect plant safety or the environment.
