OFAC Notice: New SDN List Designations Targeting Nicaraguan Gold Sector and Officials

(GRUMIXSA), NICARAGUA XINXIN LINZE MINERIA GROUP S.A., SANTA RITA MINING COMPANY S.A., THOMAS METAL S.A., ZHONG FU DEVELOPMENT S.A., and EXPORTADORA DE METALES SOCIEDAD ANONIMA (EMSA), all based in Managua, Nicaragua - Individuals designated include: Santiago Hernan Bermudez Tapia, Nelson Francisco Sobalvarro, Lester Matus Tamariz, Anibal Vladimir Matus Buitrago, Daniel Edmundo Ortega Murillo, and Maurice Facundo Ortega Murillo - The action is taken under Executive Order 13851 (as amended), targeting the gold sector of Nicaragua and officials of the Nicaraguan government - All property and interests in property of these persons subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked - U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with these individuals and entities - No procurement, products, or services are being requested in this notice

Description

The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has published a notice listing individuals and entities added to the Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN List). These designations are based on criteria under Executive Order 13851, as amended, primarily targeting persons involved in the gold sector of the Nicaraguan economy or officials of the Government of Nicaragua. All property and interests in property subject to U.S. jurisdiction of these persons are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.
