The Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Statistics is seeking comments on the reinstatement, with changes, of the Census of State and Local Law Enforcement Agencies (CSLLEA). This survey enumerates all publicly funded state, county, local, tribal, and campus law enforcement agencies in the U.S., collecting data on personnel counts, agency functions, budgets, and demographics. Approximately 22,000 agencies will be surveyed to provide a comprehensive overview of law enforcement agencies nationwide, serving as a sampling frame for future surveys. Comments are accepted until June 16, 2026.
