The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is considering a request from the Laurel Airport Authority to waive the requirement that approximately 5.46 acres of airport property at Hesler Noble Airfield in Laurel, Mississippi, be used for aeronautical purposes. The FAA is reviewing this land release request under Title 49, U.S.C. 47153(c) and has determined that the release will not impact future aviation needs. The property is proposed to be sold to NES Laurel, LLC, the current lessee, with proceeds to be used for airport maintenance and improvements. Public comments on this proposal are invited until May 18, 2026.
