This notice announces the completion of an inventory of Native American human remains and funerary objects by the Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS), under the oversight of the National Park Service (Department of the Interior): - Government Buyer: - Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) - National Park Service, Department of the Interior - Scope of Inventory: - Human remains representing at least four individuals - Eight associated funerary objects, including: - Chipped stone tools - Mollusk shells - Geographic Origin: - Norton County, Kansas - Rawlins County, Kansas - Cultural Affiliation: - Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, Oklahoma - Notable Requirements: - No hazardous substances were used in the treatment of remains or objects - Written requests for repatriation are invited from eligible Indian Tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, or lineal descendants - No OEMs or commercial vendors are involved, as this is not a procurement or supply opportunity

Description

The Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains and objects from several counties in Kansas, with cultural affiliation determined to the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. The notice invites written requests for repatriation of these remains and objects, which may occur on or after May 18, 2026.
