Description
The Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains representing at least 59 individuals and 1,915 associated funerary objects from various counties in Kansas. KSHS has determined a cultural affiliation between these remains and objects and the Kaw Nation and the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes of Oklahoma. Repatriation may occur on or after May 18, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted to KSHS.
