This notice announces the completion of an inventory of associated funerary objects by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). - Government Buyer: - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District (Department of the Interior) - No OEMs or commercial vendors are involved; this is not a procurement or service solicitation - Objects inventoried: - 7 ceramic vessels - 70 shell beads (including strung beads and beads with faunal teeth or gorget) - 76 modified faunal bones - Lithic artifacts (bifaces, celts, drills, discoidals, hammerstones, projectile points) - Other artifacts (ceramic ball, ceramic disc, pipe fragments, shell discs, turtle shell fragments, faunal teeth, antler tines, faunal bone beads, faunal bone tubes, stone pendants) - The objects are culturally affiliated with the Absentee-Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, and the Shawnee Tribe - The collection was accumulated from sites in West Virginia and is currently held at the Veterans Curation Lab in Alexandria, Virginia - The notice outlines the process for affiliated tribes or lineal descendants to request repatriation - No procurement, product, or service requirements are present in this notice

Description

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Huntington District, has completed an inventory of 314 associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). These objects, which include ceramic vessels, shell beads, modified faunal bones, lithics, and other artifacts, are culturally affiliated with the Absentee-Shawnee Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma, Eastern Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma, and the Shawnee Tribe. The collection was accumulated from sites in West Virginia and is currently held at the Veterans Curation Lab in Alexandria, Virginia. Repatriation of these objects may occur on or after May 18, 2026, upon written request from affiliated tribes or lineal descendants.
