Description

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is approving the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's request to redesignate the Allegheny County, Pennsylvania nonattainment area to attainment for the 2012 annual fine particulate matter (PM2.5) national ambient air quality standards. The redesignation request was submitted by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection on behalf of the Allegheny County Health Department. This final rule changes the designation status of the Allegheny County Area from nonattainment to attainment, effective May 18, 2026, under the Clean Air Act.
