Description

The Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory includes remains and objects from multiple counties in Kansas, representing at least 20 Native American individuals and 9,542 associated funerary objects. KSHS has determined cultural affiliation with the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, Oklahoma, and the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, Oklahoma. Repatriation may occur on or after May 18, 2026, and requests for repatriation must be submitted in writing to KSHS.
