Description
The Dearborn Historical Museum intends to repatriate certain cultural items classified as sacred objects or objects of cultural patrimony that have cultural affiliation with Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations, in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The items include a basket sifter and a pair of moccasins, connected to the Seneca Nation of Indians. Repatriation may occur on or after May 18, 2026, and requests for repatriation can be submitted by lineal descendants or culturally affiliated tribes or organizations.
