Description
Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Mine Safety and Health Enforcement (MSHE) must be prepared to monitor the working environment of the mines to determine if the concentration of harmful or noxious gases is being effectively controlled by the measures utilized by the mine operator. The gas monitors presently used by MSHE are the MSA Altair 4 gas monitors. The gas monitors used must be calibrated daily to ensure proper reading. To calibrate the gas monitors used by MSHE, a gas that is a mixture of Oxygen, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen Dioxide and Methane is used. The gas presently being used is MSA Gas - Part # 10058171.
