Brunswick County Public Utilities is seeking bids for the construction of a new Clarifiers Splitter Box at the Carolina Shores Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). - Government Buyer: - Brunswick County Public Utilities, Operations Center - Project Scope: - Demolition of the existing chlorine contact basin and connected appurtenances - Construction of a new splitter structure with associated piping (approx. 220 linear feet of PVC pipe) to connect to existing secondary clarifiers - Site clearing, excavation, backfilling, utility trenching, grassing, site restoration, matting, cast-in-place concrete, miscellaneous metals, painting, sanitary sewerage utilities, and installation of slide gates - Installation of various wastewater equipment: slide gates, plug valves, ductile iron fittings, mechanical joint restraints, flexible couplings, tracer wire, detectable tracer tape, and electronic marker balls (3M Model 1403-XR or equal) - Products/Materials: - PVC Pipe (AWWA C900, DR 18, 220 LF) - Ductile iron fittings (Pressure Class 350, ceramic epoxy lined) - Plug valves (eccentric, gear-driven for 6"+) - Mechanical joint restraints, flexible couplings, tracer wire, detectable tracer tape - Electronic marker balls (3M Model 1403-XR or equal) - Slide gates (stainless steel frame, UHMW-PE seats, manual handwheel) - Notable Requirements: - 5% bid bond required - Contractor must employ an independent testing firm for all required inspections and tests - Davis-Bacon wage compliance - Good-faith effort for at least 10% Minority Business Enterprise participation - Digital signatures accepted for bid documents - Liquidated damages of $1,000 per day for late completion - Preferred brands specified for compatibility and cost savings; 3M is named for electronic marker balls - Award will be made to the lowest responsive, responsible single prime bidder based on the total base bid - Project designer: AECOM Technical Services of North Carolina, Inc.
