This opportunity seeks comprehensive landscaping and irrigation system maintenance services for the National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) campuses in Golden and Arvada, Colorado. - Government Buyer: - U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Office of Critical Minerals and Energy Innovation - National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR), managed by Alliance for Energy Innovation, LLC - Subcontract administration by Alliance for Sustainable Energy - OEMs and Vendors: - No specific OEMs or vendors are named; however, the WeatherTRAK smart irrigation system is a required component for irrigation management. - Products and Services Requested: - Landscaping and grounds maintenance across approximately 197 acres at multiple NLR campuses - Irrigation system maintenance, including WeatherTRAK smart irrigation system programming, winterization, start-up, and repairs - Minor irrigation system repairs - Fertilizers, soil amendments, certified grass seed, organic mulch, rock for beds, and seasonal annual/perennial plants - Optional landscape improvement projects (site prep, planting, installation) - Unique or Notable Requirements: - Strict adherence to environmentally responsible and sustainable practices (e.g., water-efficient irrigation, integrated pest management, use of native or climate-adapted plants) - Preference for electric landscaping equipment - Compliance with Colorado Air Pollution Control Division Regulation No. 29 and all relevant environmental, safety, and labor standards - Contractors must have at least 8 years of relevant experience and resources within 50 miles of the campus - Certified personnel required for specialized tasks - Detailed reporting and project management plans required - All products must meet USDA and Colorado Department of Agriculture standards - Period of Performance: - Base period of 12 months with four 12-month option periods (total up to 60 months) - Annual recurring services with seasonal schedules (e.g., mowing, fertilizing, irrigation winterization/start-up) - Estimated Contract Value: - Approximately $750,000 per year; total potential value up to $3,750,000 if all options exercised - Place(s) of Performance: - National Laboratory of the Rockies South Table Mountain Campus, 15013 Denver West Parkway, Golden, CO 80401 - Flatirons Campus, 19001 W. 119th Ave., Arvada, CO 80007 - South Table Mountain Energy Park, 15445 S. Description
The primary objective of landscaping and grounds maintenance at National Laboratory of the Rockies (NLR) is to preserve and maintain its campus open space areas to minimize the negative impacts on the environment and maximize the efficient use of resources to enhance the native and naturalized vegetation communities and wildlife habitat. The Subcontractor shall assist NLR’s Site Operations Team to provide various landscaping and irrigation services in the cultivation of both established and improvement project landscape areas. Landscaping and grounds maintenance activities shall be performed using environmentally responsible and sustainable practices, including water-efficient irrigation methods, integrated pest management, soil health preservation, and the use of native or climate-adapted plant species where feasible.
