Description

The Field Museum in Chicago intends to repatriate 24 cultural items classified as objects of cultural patrimony that have a cultural affiliation with the Osage Nation. These items include feast mats, woven bags, and sacred bundle components collected in 1901 from the Osage Reservation. The repatriation process is conducted under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), with repatriation occurring on or after May 11, 2026. Requests for repatriation must be submitted in writing to the Field Museum's authorized representative.
