Description
The Kansas State Historical Society (KSHS) has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). They have determined a cultural affiliation between the remains and certain Indian Tribes, specifically the Kaw Nation and the Shawnee Tribe. The remains represent at least one individual from Wyandotte County, Kansas, and no associated funerary objects are present. Repatriation may occur on or after May 11, 2026, and written requests for repatriation must be sent to KSHS.
