The U.S. Department of Defense, Department of the Navy, Naval Base Coronado has completed an inventory of human remains in accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA). The inventory identified at least 30 individuals of Native American ancestry with cultural affiliations to several Indian Tribes in California. The notice announces the potential repatriation of these human remains to affiliated tribes or lineal descendants, with repatriation possible on or after May 11, 2026.
